Tools of the Genealogy Trade

One thing I’ve found critical to keeping the flow of  information going is to have good tools for documentation and storage of files, I’ve got images and files from over 100 years ago and I need to make sure they are easily obtainable and securely stored.

In this post, I’ll mention some (not all) of the tools I use and then elaborate how they fit into my workflow in later posts.  I do all of my work on a Macintosh computer and some of these tools will not work on a PC, but there are similar types of programs available for the PC.

I’m *finally* getting my genealogy records online! I’m working on standardizing my workflow and will describe that in another posting. This is a process that started for me in 1997 when my uncle published a booklet of my mother’s Montplaisir lineage. It was an inspiration, and I started pursuing my own lineage. I’ve met a lot of family and friends along the way in my research quest and I plan to highlight them here.
